Brilliant individual. He is a great pick for Energy Secretary. A deep knowledge across the energy spectrum and its impact on human lives, the global economy and the environment.
I support the appointment of someone like Mr. Wright 100%
2 questions bother me though :
- with the Government of the day releasing oil onto the market from the Strategic reserve to hold prices down purely for their short term political aims, what incentive is there to invest billions over a long time frame for energy producers ?
- If not wrong , the US already produces around 90% of its energy needs. The remaining imports could be considered a buffer , to be reduced in the event of an economic downturn cutting demand, without affecting the operations of domestic producers. So to whom will all the new oil and gas be sold ?
From my younger brother, who is mostly onboard the "carbon is bad (so nuclear must be good)" train:
"I mean I opposed the idea of the XL pipeline because it was going to run through the lands of natives and pipelines spill far too often to not have a negative impact on the areas they pass through"
Doesn't even realize he's falling for the same rhetoric, applied by the same groups, that shut down Indian Point Nuclear Power.
Thanks to doomberg, I'm somewhat inoculated against this stupid category of dissent against energy infrastructure.
If Indian Point isn't good enough for these people, then why even bother listening to the other litigious critiques?
Spectacular pick for Energy Secretary. But, in my opinion, even more important is the formation of the new National Energy Council that will be headed by ND Governor Doug Burgum and future Secretary of the Interior. With regulations and oversight related to energy spread across a dozen agencies, we will now have a structure that will allow a holistic and efficient approach to tackling our energy problems and with the power to resolve inter-agency friction. And there could not be a better person to take on this challenge. If you are unfamiliar, please check out his history… he is the real deal. Not to mention, I happen to know he is a fan of Doomberg and Robert Bryce among others that share a common sense approach to achieving energy dominance. https://www.utilitydive.com/news/trump-burgum-interior-energy-council-blm-boem-offshore-wind/733163/
Chris Wright sounds as good as it gets. In my perfect world, he would have re-written Point 9 as: "Cheap, abundant, reliable energy is the key to climate mastery and human flourishing." (h/t Alex Epstein). I am rooting hard for Chris Wright.
I had to look up "Helminthoid." "Worm-like." What a perfect term to describe the inhabitants of the Swamp. They are hidden but sometimes lethal. Cut them in half, and they multiply. Dry them out, and they lie dormant, only to rise again when it rains. The worms of the Swamp need to be eradicated, which will take years of sustained vigilance.
I also cannot think of a more qualified person than Chris to head up the Department of Energy. His credentials as an engineer, scientist, and businessman are unassailable. His character is also pristine. I do not imagine that he will have any problem being confirmed.

Really enjoyed the interview.
Fair to say Doomie, that if he had to get one appointment spot on.. this would be it? His CV looks plenty fine.

Thank you
Trump's nominees are also an overall younger cohort which, by itself, scares those now in power. Exciting times as they say.

Thanks for sharing! Big fans of your work.
I wouldn’t be surprised if him and his C suite are subs of yours. Hi Chris! How’s it hanging?
😉

Fantastic pick.
Never heard of him.
Now I like him!
He’s great
Ok. I admit that I had to look up helminthoid.
One of you is a former spelling bee champion, I am guessing.
And it’s not me ;)
Wright has my vote, along with SMRs.
Here's to hoping he gets in Doomy! Almost overqualified. Very impressive.
Very overqualified

Agreed on all points
