There are several of 47's nominations that should NOT be recess appointments because confirmation hearings will give them an opportunity to show their bona fides and embarrass their attackers. This is one of them.
Wright is right because he understands physics relative to most bureaucrats. Physics wins because it has no bias and doesn't take a political side. Imagine if every politician the world over was made to read or listen to Smil's "Energy and Civilization" and have to take a quiz (with at least 80% pass grade) to gain entry to their respective parliament. If only. That masterpiece should be in school curriculums as well worldwide IMO.
Overheard by purpose-built fly on the wall in Tokyo: "a pity Wright doesn't use the current buzzwords we painstakingly learn for each COP, where we get the Fossil of the Day Award in any case, but thanks in advance for your expanded contributions to low-cost energy security and geopolitical stability. The Aussies really, really had us worried."
Helminthoid for the win! I nominate Helminth Crawley for Deputy Director of Defenestration. I woulda thought Trump's roto-rooter brigade might face some dangerous opponents in the Pentagon and the intel agencies, but there are already so many Al Jazeera moles in those hallowed halls that I think the walls have been breached. I don't like all Trump's choices for sure, but Wright and Ron Paul are most auspicious. I'm looking forward to open season on Gavin Newsom and Kathy Hochul as well; the slow learners who haven't figured out why people are sick of their leadership. Whatever can be said about Trump's disregard for standards and practices, I have never witnessed such a lengthy roster of Dems being investigated or charged with corruption crimes simultaneously. Tis the season...
It's an impressive appointment sure to please MAGA supporters, and that's about all. The history of campaigns to reduce waste have all failed. The growth of spending and borrowing can't be stopped; it's built into the system. They all run into a wall of entrenched interests including Trump himself.
Just got off the telephone with an oil man located in Midland, Texas. He says he knows the nominee. Chris Wright is extremely articulate and brilliant. The Oil & Gas Association in Midland have brought him to Midland to speak several times. They are very excited. He really is an expert in his field.
As Robert Bryce noted, the 1st DOE (potential) secretary in department history to have actual oil drilling experience. Superbly encouraging and refreshing!
"Helminthoid?" Had to look that one up. Spot on, Doomy.
And yes, Doomy, looking at the comments below, I agree that there is a place for DoE. In fact some of the provisions of the poorly named Inflation Reduction Act are very supportive of nuclear power. And I applaud some of the DoE activities that support that.
Chris Wright is an excellent nomination and should be a huge improvement to DoE.
It's time for the Gospel According to St. Green to be removed from the canon.
The establishment propaganda networks and unitparty career politicians are poo-pooing Trump's nominees, citing a lack of government experience. Our government is dysfunctional. NOT having government experience (taint) is a benefit and critical if transformation back to a Constitutional Republic (America 2.0) is the goal.

1000%
He would depants any senator who would rise in opposition.

100% in agreement

Lol
Great piece, yes hopefully he has a hide like a rhino and that Trump sticks to his guns.
I recall when Steven Harper tried to bring in Gwin Morgan to reform the canadian civil service they all went insane and prevented the appointment.
Oh, and helminthoid: wormlike
Learned a fantastic new word.
Seems like the opposition might be distracted with other, more high-profile nominations... Fingers crossed
Helminthoid is now trending. From Rex Tillerson in charge of State to Chris Wright pending at DoE. That's telesis in action.
It's a wonderful word
…and I learned a new word that was most appropriate for the context used - helminthoid. 😂
Underappreciated word!

Yes to Chris Wright!

Have a little hope!

Yup! And thank you!
Time to change your name from Doomberg to Boomberg? 😉
Best pick of all his cabinet nominees.
Agreed!
