It just simply beautiful to read Doomberg. The sincerity shines through the letters.

I read the article about secondary sanctions and thoughtlessly agreed, this time for sure. Thank you for snapping me awake. It must be because they work so well in theory that we’re willing to ignore their failure in practice.

Dear Doomberg,

In March 2022 in "On the cusp of an economic singularity" you predicted a big bang, an economic crisis like no other crisis before it. It spurred my interest. I became a subscriber and remained one, quite contentedly so. Fortunately the singularity did not come and you did not write much about it since. In the spirit of this piece: was that prediction wrong or do you think the economic big bang is on its way and we only have to wait and see?

I’m certain we all appreciate your, and the team’s efforts. Willingness to admit error is rarely seen these days.

I only have things I noted. To me with environmental degradation and grabbing the easy stuff the fight to overcome entropy will become more energy intensive

For example it’s risky to drink tap water in USA as may contain a myriad of chemicals

So say drink distilled water. That takes energy to distillation

Fertility is collapsing amongst humans

Then need in vitro or no kids

And some people created a program at MiT that predicted heating on planet in the 1970s

Apparently that programs predictions have been correct

And it predicts civilization collapse by 2040 nice

Frankly I am skepticism of such things but is has been correct so far

China and India may well run out of fresh water

Desalination that requires energy

So I agree with Doomberg that energy consumption will grow

More air conditioning more desalination etc

More automobiles

Until the end game

What a great article today Mr. Doomberg! - These will be some great talking points when we get to visit with you and Chris Wright, CEO of Liberty Energy. His view of energy and humanity are great.

That’s Putins reason for the invasion

Thank you for the excellent piece that included your current take on natural gas prices that included a piece of humble pie. Please keep up the excellent work.

Humble pie doesn't taste all that bad tbh

Takes a wise, confident man to admit when he's wrong. Takes an ever more extraordinary person to do deep research and show what he/she has learned from being wrong. Authenticity matters.

The good news: This is not a worry with legacy media.

Golf clap, Doom. You're an inspiration for many.

Thank you!

I liked the piece, but it’s “you’re”!! A lapse in an otherwise extremely well-written Substack.

Read it again and ponder what we might have meant ;)

Hmmm … getting nothing yet, but maybe that’s the price of being a literalist.

It was a joke… a knowing typo in a piece about mistakes 😂

Aha. Will add subtlety to your list of attributes.

They weren’t messing up the C2A!!

Not to worry. I didn't get it either. And I definitely don't consider myself a literalist. But sometimes I do miss the obvious.

Nice discussion. I applaud your attitude. Mistakes are the doorway to wisdom. Walk through that doorway! Thank you for continuing to come to bat and SWING.

i'd lay 10-1 odds that some huge financialized (enshittified, to borrow Cory Doctorow's verb) entity will offer you way more money than you think you deserve and proceed to fire everyone, install LLM, go to Bangalore (not that there's anything wrong with Bangalorians) to pay slave wages to writers. It's the way of the world. See, e.g., Burt's Bees products. Love ya but cash talks loudly.

Ha! Hard to imagine any of those steps coming to pass.

When update on Drunken Saylor and Double Down and the other articles? When you have so many articles critical of a subject and the outcome appears to be the opposite maybe a thorough review of biases is in order.

The ETF Bitcoin purchasing is definitely driving the price of BTC up. Purchasing more than is currently mined on a daily basis. Last I checked, MSTR had approximately a 20% short position. MSTR just went over $1000 today. Moving faster and farther than BTC itself. Looks like a big short squeeze to me. I wouldn’t mortgage my house to buy Bitcoin but I also wouldn’t bet against the running tide. Those that do are feeling it in the shorts about now.

I would love to read a deep dive into the pros and cons of BTC but have yet to find a true analysis that isn’t biased one way or another. Anyone have any good suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

If you understand debt and gold's pros and cons, you should not have any trouble understanding bitcoin. I have both physical gold and bitcoin. Good luck

Drunken Saylor was written in June of 2021 and Double Down in May of 2022. Stand by every word of both pieces. That a reckless bet works out doesn’t make it less reckless. I noticed Saylor is selling a ton of Microstrategy stock recently. Congrats to him.

Most of our subscribers just aren’t interested in digital assets so we essentially stopped writing about it after the FTX collapse. Before ceasing, we wrote in support of bitcoin mining and against the weaponization of banking against crypto holders (on several occasions).

I just recorded with Peter at What Bitcoin Did. I congratulated him and expressed my genuine hope Bitcoin moons.
