Yesterday I listened to the podcast you did with Grant Williams following this article. I was very sorry to hear that it's caused you so much grief. Grant has been a north star for information for me for a long time, and now by association and some time following, you have as well. It's a tragedy that seeking the truth can become so combative (as you put it). I am only commenting here to let you know that I appreciate the effort you put into your writing and the genuine desire to present the facts. I wish I could find this kind of writing in more places.

Tort reform - most of these liars just want money.

Fighting pipelines nationwide is also very dangerous. I hope you do a story on this at some point.

Off topic. Just listened to the Steve Keen discussion. Any chance you can take a look at the global carrying capacity theory. Basis for his dystopian view of the future without radical change.

There's quite a lot of people echoing my earlier (but not terribly well-received) sentiments about trusting the EPA. I still maintain, as I wrote before, the EPA is not to be trusted as they have bent/broken the rules time and again in the past.

Thank you for this detailed and thoughtful analysis. Whether it is the NIH/CDC Covid response or the FBI sponsored Russian misinformation campaign, I'm afraid government credibility will take some prolonged and consistent effort to restore. :-(

The best money I spend by far is on Doomberg!!!

What would be your preferred method for shipping these chemicals?

The research that was done and the professional and clinical way it was presented was extraordinary. It takes great courage to take on the emotional and anecdotal narrative and fear mongering, some of which is in evidence in the comments. Unfortunately there is such an enormous volume of incompetence and intellectual dishonesty in government and academia that skepticism and distrust is justified.

Thanks Doomberg. Question. On your note “that we even allow vinyl chloride to be shipped in this fashion is unnecessary and unacceptable.” What is an economic and reasonable alternative to moving this stuff.

Also, are you aware if those railcars were being pushed or pulled by locomotives. Seeing the mess collection of those railcars, seems like a push crush from behind with no emergency braking at all.

Good piece / perspective chicken...focus should be about taking our infrastructure deficiencies seriously and managing the known risks:

Im very interested to see your thoughts on how we can handle/ safely ship toxic chemicals. I’ll definitely be waiting for that article.

Thank your for the detailed breakdown of the content of the train cars too. I love the attention to detail and an explanation that a non-chemist but financial person can understand.

when you see black smoke and you then understand what is burning, that is the issue. the volatiles are going into the atmosphere (up up and away). now if the EPA checked the black plume that would yield a whole different story. the solution to this is just what happened, dilution. now, from personal experience dealing with burning "plastics" (chlorinated hydrocarbons) and the EPA, dioxins are a real issue . how real? testing will show that. air monitoring will not show that (personal experience).

Yes, but - the dioxins produced here were heavily diluted as well, as the plume spread over hundreds of miles

No disrespect to Doomberg- but doesn't it feel like that we are living through an 'Atlas Shrugged' developing dystopia of systemic failure in western infrastructure accompanied by domestic & international political & diplomatic failures on just about every metric?

This might be the first ever instance where “No disrespect to Doomberg” was type, and what followed actually didn’t disrespect Doomberg!

Don't worry guys, Pete ButtGigs is on the case.

Forget competence and merit, airlines, industry and the military are now being populated by skin color quotas and "identifying individual" lunacy.

But they're super-sure that this kind of policy is totally fine, because "equity" amirite? After all, if a plane crashes but the proper inclusive pilot was on board, well - that's just the price of progress...

It's all kayfabe, especially for Pete.. They're all just playing a role that doesn't respond to real world events, only political and media commentary.
