Doomberg is an independent publication that delivers concise, entertaining, provocative articles centered on energy, finance, and geopolitics. We are small team of entrepreneurs that started this business after long careers in the industrial sector. With trillions of taxpayer dollars and myriad government mandates thrown at the energy transition, there was a practical voice missing in the traditional media. We started writing in that voice, with the freedom of having no master to serve beyond the foundation of our own principles, experience, and work ethic.

This publication is our passion, and the content is supported by our team’s deep experience in heavy industry, private equity, and the hard sciences. We are entirely reader-supported and have grown to be the most widely read finance newsletter on the Substack platform.

We are grateful for each one of our readers and want to make it easy to engage with us. If you have any unanswered questions after reviewing this FAQ page, please don’t hesitate to email us at [email protected].

FAQ

What’s the Price of Doomberg and What Do I Get for It?

Doomberg subscribers get 6-8 articles a month (+ extras for the Pro tier). Our goal is that the arrival of each one sparks an “Ooh, I get to read that!” response.

Want some of that excitement in your inbox? Here are the options:

  1. Doomberg – subscribe at the primary level for access to all published articles + community participation in most resource-rich comments section on the internet ($300/year)

  2. Doomberg Pro – the Pro level adds access to our monthly Doom Zoom presentations + a dedicated email address for subscribers + links to paywalled podcasts where Doomberg is a guest, as permitted by the host ($1200/year)

How do I upgrade to a Paid or a Pro account?

Whether you are a free reader wishing to get paid access, or a paid subscriber looking to join the Pro Tier, sign in to your account on Substack and follow the instructions found here.

How do I change the email address associated with my account?

Keeping your email address up-to-date is easy, but unfortunately, we cannot change it for you directly. To change your account, follow the instructions found here.

Why the Green Chicken?

Read Doomberg’s origin story here.

Can I buy a subscription for someone else?

What a generous and wise friend you are! Yes, you absolutely can send a gift subscription using the sign-up page found here. (You can send a gift to anyone with an email address—local politicians and misguided college students included.)

How do I cancel my subscription?

To cancel a subscription (or turn-off auto-renew), you can do so in Settings by following the instructions found here. You are also welcome to simply email us at [email protected] so we can cancel the subscription (or stop auto-renew) directly on your behalf.

Our company/team/family/cult would like to subscribe to Doomberg as a group. Do you offer a group rate?

Indeed, we do! Each subscription is intended for one individual, so if you have a flock of interested readers, a group program is right up your alley. The group rate is 25% off list price for a minimum of 4+ seats.

Group access for our standard subscription level can be found here. For group access to the Pro Tier, please email [email protected] so we can issue you a custom group invitation.

Where can I get Doomberg merch?

Find a small collection of branded wares in The J. Chickenman Catalog here. (Pro tip: The bottle opener is surprisingly great.)

Can we hire Doomberg to speak at a private event?

Probably not! We sincerely appreciate all speaking invitations and would love to be able to accept them. However, our primary work is to reliably publish quality articles 6-8 times each month. Speaking engagements take valuable researching/thinking/writing/editing time away from our small team and so we generally decline such offers.

Email any questions to [email protected]. You can also find us commenting actively on Substack Notes. We hope to see you around the Coop!
