Europe should just use rEnEwAbLe natural gas.

_____

"Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) today announced that 14 billion cubic feet of renewable natural gas (RNG) produced from organic waste was distributed via SoCalGas' pipeline system in 2021, the equivalent to removing 166,896 cars off the road annually. This is 2 billion cubic feet more than 12 billion cubic feet distributed by SoCalGas in 2020. In addition, the utility completed five RNG interconnection projects last year located throughout its service territory including the San Joaquin Valley and San Bernardino County. In total there are now nine RNG projects connected to SoCalGas' system.

As part of SoCalGas' goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in its operations and delivery of energy by 2045, the utility plans to deliver 20% RNG to core customers by end of 2030 and continues to make significant progress towards reaching its goal."

What about LNG reserves in Ukraine itself? They're allegedly pretty large and infrastructure to transport at least partially already exists.

Is Russia just shut down the NG supply for Poland ?

Great article! It's been a great year of articles. Wish I could follow you behind the paywall, but I'm trying to live on Social Security. I'm hoping to still follow you on Twitter, Decouple Media, Wealthion... You're a great teacher. I taught for a while in an energy management program at a community college, and struggled to get folks to understand the difference between KW and KWH. The level of energy illiteracy in our country is scary. Keep up the good work!

Great article. Thanks Doomy (can we call you that?)

It gets you researching what you think you know about where your own nation is placed in the LNG world. I'm Australian and know that we have recently offered to send more gas to "friends & allies". Lol at the terminology. Seem to have heard it a lot lately.

Seems like a dig at China and Russia, but given trade sanctions by China (going all the way back to us daring to ask for an investigation into Wuhan) in Barley, Wine, Coal, Copper Concentrate... I understand why it was added. Maybe just a timely reminder that AUS is a big LNG player.

Anyway, I think Australia would be a great long term, stable energy partner for the EU. Maybe as China takes more gas via pipeline from Russia, we could send that surplus production to EU and SE Asia/Japan.

Writing from aPerth a friend of mine recently about a month ago spotted a private jet at the airport with a German flag on it. I wondered what they were here for? Plenty of gas here but woke nonsense has been reigning supreme of late. We Aussies would be happy to help the europeans out. We have shitloads of the yellow stuff too!

There is one, very neat solution to this crisis....and I am sure everyone has thought of it.

It's not like Europe, especially Germany weren't warned, and told to fix this back when Trump was in office. Idiots. Build more nuke plants, or get nuked by Russia, or learn how to speak Russian. The more petroleum they buy from Russia, the more they are paying for their own demise. If Russia ever learns how to conduct invasions and war in this century instead of using WWII tactics, like bombing civilian population centers, and they keep on collecting money and gold from the Europeans, Russia will own western Europe. Russia has proven they are not really a military threat without their nukes. The really bad part, as far as I'm concerned is we, the USA, will get sucked into this war, and it will hurt me, the main person I am concerned with. All these idiots are so worried about climate change they are willing to give up their money and freedom (my money too) for something that is at best a remote possibility (the earth's climate has changed many times over the billions of years it has existed, how do we know this isn't just a natural change). We are being led by idiots who are advised by idiots, and China and Russia will split everything up. China is poisining the USA with fentanyl via Mexican cartels while liberal idiots let them come across our border with the drug, while Russia is getting rich selling Europe energy. We are so screwed unless something really big changes in the next few years. If we don't starve to death first. Personally, I think we may have already gone past the recovery point and are doomed to lose it all, with our brain dead president and a vice president that acts like a teenage girl. See what socialism and liberalism gets you. We are so FU**ED! And the wort part is I didn't vote for the idiots, but I have to suffer along with those that did. Ok, I'm done bitching. :-)

The US gas fracking industry has been a disaster from day one. It won't last much longer. We need the gas over here also. The cost to drill and complete the well, transmit it to an LNG terminal, ship it by large tanker and regassify it is not competitive with simply pipelining it. I use to build nat gas pipelines and I worked in the fracking business. We have a drain America first policy and it will work. America will be drained. Then what?

Insightful article. Thank you. Can you please factor in Asia demand and supply mix with Europe. How would this likely impact on the cost and time in meeting demand of the world if decided to abandon RUS gas.
